SheBUILDS is a two-day, global hackathon hosted by Girl Who Code at Berkeley for high school and college female-identifying students. As a beginner-friendly hackathon, we aim to equip our participants with 21st-century skills in order to help close the gender gap in technology and to change the image of what a programmer looks like and does.
Ever since childhood, we've been asked "what do you want to do when you grow up?" The tech industry is intimidating, confusing, and even unreachable to many youths growing up.
SheBUILDS provides a unique opportunity for high schoolers and college students alike to innovate, connect, and collaborate with UC Berkeley women in STEM. Our hackathon exposes students to a variety of technologies and fields like Artificial Intelligence and web development and to inspire participants to fearlessly pursue a career in those fields. SheBUILDS encourages participants to build on newly learned technologies in order to make their highest contribution to society. We want our participants to help themselves to help others.
